I put this through virus total and it came up as having 7 Trojans and Malware. this not a joke btw, this is quite literally a virus

(+3)(-2)

I tested this online tool with a variety of personal files, namely early builds of hackweight, the current build of hackweight, early builds of fatsona, and other small .exe games I've made. I found it to consistently return similar warnings and looking into it shows that the website returns false positives often. I suspect that because these .exe files aren't code signed, it raises red flags to simple antivirus systems (windows defender has given these programs issues before)

I can assure that everything I put out on my end is secure, and I don't think that there is any web-based breach given that my personal files returned the same warnings

regardless, if you find anything to indicate that the game files are unsafe, reach out to me on discord @metrack and I'll look into it asap

(1 edit) (+1)

My apologies. I'm just a bit paranoid, I had to reset my laptop after a different exe game I downloaded infected my laptop with malware

no worries! I appreciate you bringing this to my attention because it's probably something I should try to iron out eventually- make sure that the games I make agree with whatever devices it may end up on. enjoy the game :)

Dunno how this would affect balancing, but I was thinking: for random words, instead of overclock providing a general boost, what if it instead gave you the score once you typed the word out without needing to press enter? It could synergize with the line entry module that way, letting you get little bursts of score from typing out the random words then it'd give a massive chunk of score once the player hits enter.

I think there is potential for an alternative plugin there, perhaps ones that cycle through words on a timer and give you score each time you type it within that time. could be fun with short words, so you just get these periods of typing haruharuharuharuharuharuharu

that being said I don't necessarily want overclock to change the base function of plugins, and I'm honestly very happy with the functions and balance of the first module of plugins

ORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORA
MUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDA

will you add more characters or is the roster finished

(+1)

At least one more character will be added, though i’m considering a couple more potentially

Will there be by chance a browser version

exporting in HTML5 is as far as I know the only viable way to put it on browser, and doing so messes up a loooot of features. it is one of the things i'm interested in figuring out one day though

Well I would definitely play this game but due to me being on mobile I can't download so I try to stick to browser games instead which has still been a good experience for me

Will there be extra phases or rewards/unlockables for beating a stage on the hardest difficulty?

still planning out the features for the final update, but i'd love to reward players who are able to overcome all the heroic levels!

I don't know if I'm just missing some odd logic or what, but it seems like half of the plugins in the Kiriko's segment doesn't work.

Word combo seems to do nothing, line duplicator did nothing, trying to disable then with the virus to gain score did nothing.

Your tool tips are too small to be useful, and quite frankly your tutorial needs to cover all the plugins or you need to have some kind of hover over tips that explains exactly how they work.

you're right about more in-depth information on plugins, I have a planned feature when holding right click over a plugin will give a box of expanded information about it. another tutorial level may also be a good idea.

here is what the plugins you described do:

Word Combo: typing out the word and then entering it will give you an amount of score. doing words back to back will increase this score multiplicatively, hence the "combo" part. the blue bar on the plugin indicates how long you have left to input the word before the combo expires.

Line Duplicator: this will automatically duplicate a percentage of every single line you send, accruing on a counter and then giving you the listed amount once the yellow bar runs out. what you described is a known bug with the plugin where it will sometimes not work when you buy the plugin under specific circumstances. this will be fixed in the next update.

thank you for your feedback!

does the game require any other apps to install, whenever i try to start the game it just says i need something to install it

there is a font you need to install called bignoodletitling.ttf. you can look up the download online, or download it straight from this page. from there, open the file, and click install, which will add the font to your computer.

how do i enable timeless mode

click TIMER ON, setting it to TIMER OFF and enabling timeless mode.

Where can you download the "bignoodletitling.ttf" file? I haven't had any luck finding it.

it is in the same location where you download Hackweight, you can also look it up online

(+1)

Will it be Available on Mac?

when the game is all done I will probably look into different ways to put it out

hi i like this game a lot although my only problems with it is that you cant save progress and sombra cant gain weight thats it

saving is top on my list of features to figure out. I tried to implement a saving system this update but couldn't get it to run properly

Hello! i bought the game and i have to say its great! i love the characters and the gameplay. I wanted to ask one thing tho, is the "Override_Hackweight" feature fully implemented with all the codes? cus i looked for a bit and could not find all of the cyber keys, so if its not fully implemented im dumb for losing time looking for them lol.

It is not fully implemented yet, I wanted to get it up and running so people can expect to start to look for the cipher keys in future updates lol

sorry if that wasn't fully clear, but I wanted to show this build that I have greater plans for hackweight's future

Hi, Rose here again. Not here to write an essay again but wanna address a lot of the changes made for the new update and provide some input again.

TLDR: Across the board improvements and absolutely positive update. More characters still needed: but would recommend 100%

The game in its previous state had an obvious lack of polish that bared its fangs to new players. This new update is the equivalent of taking a small gem and turning it from a dirty rock into a diamond. The biggest gripes that were a thing with the previous game have all been addressed in one form or another and we've been granted even more content for each character than before.

Quality of Life:

There is genuinely so many small improvements that make this game so much more enjoyable it's insane. The muting the music in game and being able to exit mid-run are two things that prominently stood out to me upon replaying. The frustration I previously felt melted away upon realizing that I wouldn't have to dedicate the next 10 minutes to doing a run or losing all my progress.

Clicking to buy/upgrade things is a MASSIVE improvement. What once took valuable seconds typing things out has been turned into an optimized click (which can be amplified using the multiplier) which genuinely saves so much frustration from accidentally mistyping an enhancement/plugin. This also plays into my previous criticism of wishing you could copy/paste things better. Instead of spamming Cntrl V, you can now just click instead. One of my favorite changes.

Smaller additions such as statistics and autobuy are minor things that weren't needed, but I definitely appreciated (especially autobuy). I would like to comment on the font being shown to the player at the beginning of the game, but I had already installed the font from my first playthrough. Either way, it's a good thing that the player is made aware of this issue, even if they still should not be the one to do their own bug fixing.

One minor gripe is that you can no longer skip the cutscene for the main menu. Its a small thing, but got EXTREMELY annoying considering you're constantly going back and forth between the screens to find cipher keys. If you take one take away from this review, just make that intro skippable LOL

Plugins:

Random Word went from being a fundamentally broken unlock to a massively rewarding test of skill towards those who wanted to do more than just spam hack market and trojan horse. It's quickly become my favorite plugin as it rewards skill and no longer punishes you for being good. The addition of "reroll" also is a massive improvement, because for words or sequences that I wasn't proficient at typing at could be avoided.

EMP seems like it's been given a gut punch of a nerf, which I think is good. It made the timer useless and turned the game into a slog of spamming hack market. It's still overpowered with Overclock, but no where near as much anymore.

I know the patch notes said that Hack Market + Overclock effectiveness actually increased with these changes but I disagree. The inability to have Hack Market decrease in price with Overclock makes it to where you have no way to reliably decrease the price of Hack Market without waiting a long time, which is bad in a game with a time limit to complete the objective. I ended up waiting until the last minute to buy Hack Market because it felt like I would have to buy everything when the price was at 100, since I couldn't use Overclock to get it any lower past that. This is one of the few balance changes I disagree with.

I see in the patch notes that Mainframe and Auto Hack were changed, but I didn't bother using them for longer than a couple seconds. I tested them out to see if they worked but just simply did not care to spend more time testing them in comparison to the other unlocks. You told me that some people had used Mainframe to beat the game in response to my previous review, but I genuinely do not know how anyone did that and don't wanna experiment for another 20 minutes in failed attempts trying to find out LOL

Also I like the increase to the base cost of Overclock.

Added Content:

All that was needed for a gallery was a simple slideshow that showed off the different phases for the girls. And yet, we got that AND more. Along with a creative overlay to access the photos of each girl, we got an entirely new sequence for each girl with four great photos, and little comments from Sombra to comment on their gains that also double as a form of worldbuilding. I loved reading these little comments and they made me realize that some more depth to these characters with dialogue would be a fantastic addition to this game. A couple things I can immediately think of are dialogues that the characters can cycle through while you play the game.

The code section is an entirely new screen added to the game and it's obvious it's pretty bare bones. It takes you to a small screen with a text window you can type in, but admittedly that's all you need. It's still not a functioning save feature, but this is a clever way to get around that problem. Typing the names of each girl to unlock them and typing gallery to unlock all the girls' photos is a bit tedious admittedly but it functions. I also don't know what the binary code for typing the names of the future girls means (maybe a release date?) but cool little Easter egg to drop that in there!

The most confusing and interesting part added this update were the cipher keys. I originally planned to find all 10 keys and then upload this review so I can give my thoughts on that content, but after 25 minutes of searching I couldn't find any more. Whether this is because I'm simply blind or was misguided in my assumptions of where to look, I don't care. All I do know is that the small piece of information we were given wasn't enough for me to find the rest, and considering the other comments I've seen: no one else has found them either. Genuinely interested when someone will post a completed cipher and guide on how to find them.

Conclusion:

Overall massive improvements. Genuinely felt like a new game replaying it after the changes. I hate bringing up the price again because everyone is entitled to pricing their work to what they feel is best, but it still feels like it isn't 10 bucks yet. In comparison to the previous update, though, the price definitely has gone from around 3 bucks easily up to around that 5-7 dollar range. After the addition of the other three girls, though, I feel it will absolutely be worthy of that price. Shame that I couldn't figure out the cipher keys, but every gripe I had about the game previously has been addressed in one form or another. Good shit, Metrack. Like, genuinely great game development here. This isn't something I say often but the strides taken to improve this game show your clear commitment to wanting to make this as good as possible. I'm not just sold on this project, but I'm sold on your future ones, too. Can't wait for more and much love!

(+1)

Thank you for another thoughtful write up! I’m glad you enjoyed all the additions, and I really hope the future updates live up to your expectations :)

One of my close friends played Hackweight and was also confused by Mainframe, and seeing you bring it up a second time here made me wanna address it. You don’t have to send a line after pressing a number, you can just spam the numbers on the same line and tick them down. It pairs great with line enter because you can just do numbers exclusively and get a lot of score from it. I find it to be one of the most powerful plugins still, so I wonder if you made the same assumption my friend did. Either way, maybe I can look into a way to make it’s usecase more clear lol

I also think your point about OC + Hack Market is interesting, because I personally felt that seeing an overclocked Hack Market just go down into the single digits sucked. I think because overclocking is a choice, it’s fine to have it give better odds because the normal odds still exist if you un-overclock it. Maybe I can do something weird where if you switch your overclock, Hack Market would go down a few points, maybe some subtle manipulation like that could help out. Hack Market is tricky to balance because it saves a ton of time when you use it right, but it’s also unreliable in nature.

As for your suggestion, i’ll add a skip button the main menu. Big agree there and surprised I didn’t do it already. Got any other suggestions you can think of?

Lastly, just briefly touching on your price point, that is a big reason I added all the “Classified” visuals to the various screens. I felt like the original version of the game left the impression that I was just done with it, and I wanted to really show in this update that Hackweight’s journey isn’t over yet, and there’s actually a lot of exciting things on the way. I wanted to set expectations correctly this time, and I really feel like what’s in store will earn and overcome the pricetag. As a creator, it’s not easy gauging what cost is worthy for a customer, but i’ve given it a lot of thought and I think Hackweight is gonna arrive at a really great place in that regard not too far from now.

The next update is gonna feature 3 new characters, 8 new plugins (for the new characters’ levels) and a brand new difficulty mode for every gal. I really hope I get treated to another one of your great comments when that update comes around, thank you so much again for all the kind words and feedback!

Hello! the game looks very nice and interesting i was considering to buy it. But the paymentts its 10 USD now i was wondering can i still pay with EUROS or not?

I think it would get automatically converted, but I unfortunately dont have a direct answer for you. it would have to go through itch, so maybe looking into the way itch handles euros would be useful?

Hello sorry to disturb but whenever i try to download the game it is blocked with as they signal they detect a virus

because i dont have a digital distributor license, that kind of popup is gonna happen. simply click past it and go for "install anyway"

if that doesn't work, type specifically what popup you're getting into your browser and try to find a fix there. this is a common occurrence but it isn't permanent

(3 edits)

Original game but don't buy it right now if you only have a French Keyboard, the text field does'nt accept any combination of characters made with the "alt gr" key with an another key and that's problematic because sometime the game will ask you to write a certain word but you can't wirte that word because the textfield does'nt the combination of keys.

Also please ajust the dificulty in the next update it's a little bit too hard right now.

Thanks for nice game and i will delete my comment when the problem will be fixed

foreign keyboards are definitely going to be addressed later down the line, I do apologize for the inconvenience this causes. hopefully the quality of life coming through on this next update will allow you to manage the game despite the controls issue, and difficulties/ a casual gametype are coming!

I'm hoping a guide on how this works comes out, cause icant get past second stage mei(not saying games, bad im just really bad at anything involving complex strategy

(+1)

I will be adding game difficulties and a casual gametype with no loss condition, so you will be able to get through the game at your own pace going forward :)

(+1)

pls add save the game

A saving system is planned! In the near future though, there will be an update that allow you to regain any lost progress immediately through Debug commands. A proper saving system will take a little more time, but this will be functionally similar to regain progress. Thank you for checking out the game!

TLDR: Great UI design and artwork, lagging behind in balance and difficulty options, and poor in accessibility options/rewards for beating the game. 10 dollars is not worth the game in current state: though this game holds plenty potential to become INSANELY better.

Hi! Before I start: I want to clarify that this entire review is made because I genuinely love your work. I've been following your art for years (even before your original account got hacked) and LOVE Overwatch. It's one of my hyperfixations and I've been making content for the game for over a year and a half with my video editing skills on my main account. I would absolutely LOVE to see this game reach its potential because the Overwatch x Fat Fetish market is so barren. None of this criticism is personal in anyway and I only state it because I want this game to grow, and it has a lot of growing pains.

Difficulty:

I read some comments before playing about how the difficulty should be scaled down, and I am conflicted with how to address this. On one hand, the proper strat with Overclock basically makes it to where you only need three minutes to properly set yourself up before difficulty is trivial. On the other hand, not knowing how overpowered Overclock + EMP is makes the game literally impossible to beat. I tried various strategies and I couldn't get them to work without using Overclock + EMP.

If you want the difficulty to be more balanced, it would take some major reworks with the rewards system for several plugins to make them all a bit more balanced relative to each other. A lot of work is gonna be needed to make this game not too difficult without making it trivially easy.

Gameplay:

A minor gameplay change that would make things better is if the copy would not go away after a single use. If it were spammable, the entire game would be tremendously more enjoying to play as I would no longer be constantly frustrated at a minor spelling error I made: ruining the flow of constantly spamming buy or enhancing plugins. I could see how this would be intentional, though, as to avoid copy pasting a full line into the typing area over and over again, but surely there has to be some work around for that without taking away this feature.

Now I want to get into each individual plugin. This will be by far the longest part of the review but I also think it is very important. Line enhancement and First Letter are great starters. Like most AFK clicker games, you have the clicker that takes a lot of manual work but is rewarding early game, and this accomplishes exactly that. Random Word is a good idea, but terrible execution. The entire point of it is that it will reward typing skill for extra points, and even more points when upgraded. This doesn't work, though, because every time you finish typing a prompt, it will reset the reward for each thing typed ENTIRELY, even if you have it upgraded extremely high. This is fundamentally broken because it rewards slow typing as to not avoid resetting the reward counter, which is against the entire point of the game when you have a limited amount of time to complete the level. All in all, it's essentially useless. Auto Hack isn't as bad, but it's also pretty much useless and a waste of points. It gives free points, but I never bothered upgrading it because the points needed to enhance it were no where near the points it gave back, which is a common theme through out almost all of these. Mainframe, in my opinion, was the single worst plugin by far. At least with Random Word you could let the reward counter build up and get a tiny boost in the end game. With this, the amount of time spent investing in this could could be better spent typing for EMP or Hack Market. Speaking of, Hack Market was the main money maker of this game, and is the only reason that you're able to build up the points required to actually beat the final stage of all the girls. It's a shame that the only way to get the points required for beating the final stage is entirely RNG reliant, but that is only a personal preference on my part because I love when skill is rewarded and RNG is not the main way to win. Trojan is the second best money maker in the game and is what you'll use to get currency to invest in the hack market. It's the most well balanced plugin in the game. Not game breaking, but not useless either. EMP is the second strongest plugin in the game, and it's extremely useful. The ability to stop the timer makes the entire game so much less stressful and I think is necessary in a game where the score requirements are so high.

Overclock is the strongest plugin in the game, hands down. Without Overclock, this game is literally impossible to beat and is the only reason Mercy (and maybe Dva?) can be beat with the current balance of the game. Talking about Overclock's interactions with every other plugin would take too long, so the only ones that matter are Hack Market, Trojan Horse, and EMP. Overclock x EMP is the strongest combo in the game and turns this from a difficult game of combining ideal strategy with great typing skill into a waiting game of "Wait for Trojan to give money while investing in Hack Market." You can make this faster by skillfully weaving your Overclock from EMP to Trojan and than back to EMP, but its essentially broken. Overclock x Trojan is, once again, the most balanced use of Overclock. It allows you to get more money reasonably and creates a sense of urgency while using. Overclock x Hack Market is a pleasant combo for me because of the RNG factors that Hack Market uses. Hack Market's entire thing is that you just have to wait for the low prices to buy and high prices to sell, and Overclock gets rid of this because it allows you to accelerate the market's RNG so you can brute force the prices you want.

The entire strat of the game is using Line Enter and First Letter to beat first stage: then Trojan Horse and Hack Market to beat second, then weaving your Overclock between Trojan and EMP to invest in Hack Market to finally get that big boost of money required to beat the third stage. Honestly not a bad gameplay loop and I found it extremely rewarding to figure out this strat. I think the gameplay excelled the most whenever you were experimenting to find the meta while thinking of this game less as a typing game and more as a puzzle/resource management game through the medium of a typing styled game.

Overall, I actually enjoyed the gameplay. I thought it was challenging and rewarded proper usage of your overclock onto different plugins. It fell off heavily because some plugins are entirely useless after the literal beginning stage, but the main impression I got overshadowed the downsides. Good work, Metrack!

Accessibility/Aesthetics:

This game excels in aesthetics. I love the art of the characters at all stages, and the UI looks great. This game peaks when looking at all the panels for the enhancements and the minor details that went into the gameplay screen. This is also unfortunate that some of the most immediate glaring weaknesses are the broken font and text that makes up the reading of the UI. Lines are unevenly spaced in character bios, the font is constantly going outside of the boxes, and the random word enhancement has the words going outside of the box where it is difficult to read. I saw that there was a fix for this by downloading a font, but I think it's unfair to expect the players to do their own bug patching.  All of these things could be ignored on their own, but the combination of it all shows that there are clear issues that I see you have tried addressing and I have high hopes that they will be fixed soon.

Music can not be changed once you enter a gameplay section. I figured "eh, why the hell not" and kept the music on before entering the final level and realized that once I started to get annoyed by it that there was no way to turn it off without resetting. So I entered the Mercy stage thinking "Well, I'll just restart the game since there is no way to exit the gameplay once I've entered" without knowing I would have just lost over 1+ hour of gameplay. There is absolutely no save system once you exit the game and this isn't communicated to the player before he exits, which is a major issue. This can be excused now because the game is smaller, but whenever you eventually add more characters or expand on this system in any way it will get exponentially worse for the player experience.

The entire point of the game is to complete each girl's level. The reward for doing so is unlocking their next weight tier, but upon finally unlocking the final tier: it's short lived because a single button press brings up a giant "VICTORY" screen which you cant remove without going back to the level select screen, defeating the entire purpose of getting to the final weight tier because you can no longer see it due to a lack of a gallery. This issue can be entirely fixed with just a simple gallery, and I think that's probably the next thing you'll implement since it'll be very requested.

Conclusion:

I'd say for a fetish game, this was actually really enjoyable. The UI looks great, artwork was fantastic, and the puzzles aspects felt awesome! Unfortunately, this game is absolutely not worth the 10 dollar price tag. Until there is more reward for beating the levels (Gallery, More characters, better fanservice with text from characters or interactions), more accessibility options, (Saves, Pause menu, fixed text) and more balance between plugins (Overclock breaks the game, some plugins are entirely useless) then this game is more around the 3-5 dollar range.

I also understand that artists are 100% entitled to pricing their work at whatever they feel is best, but if you're going to ask for feedback then I think mentioning the price is essential for a proper review.

I'm really glad to see Overwatch getting some appreciation in the fat scene, and I will be actively checking for more developments. I can not WAIT until the next update comes out and I will be downloading it whenever it is done !!!!! Tysm for making this !!!!

Thank you for such a thorough response! I just put up an update over on Deviantart going over some of the big updates I plan to make for this game, and I hope the direction I'm going there will soothe some of the aches you felt with this game. Hackweight absolutely isn't a one-and-done type deal, and I will be adding and expanding on it until it's lived up to it's full potential!

I will mention that your plugin overview was definitely interesting, because from other feedbacks I've received has contradicted it massively. Many players find success with Mainframe and Autohack especially, one of the "how to win" posts i've read is to just bumrush Mainframe lol. I will take these takes into consideration though, I do agree some plugins are much stronger than others, and RW especially needs some help. Overclock is intentionally broken, which is the reason it is the last plugin you unlock. It allows you to tackle the last hack attempt in creative ways using whichever plugin suits your playstyle, and I personally love that. I will try to strike a balance among the other plugins, but Overclock will remain largely untouched.

The text thing is so frustrating, it comes through perfectly fine on my end but is broken for everybody else. It is meant to display with the overwatch "BigNoodleTitling" font, but it didn't embed into the application properly. This is among one of the first things I'm going to get sorted since it is such an ugly bug.

Thank you again for leaving such a thorough review! I would comment on your other points as well, but I believe the update I posted over on Deviantart would kinda do the talking better for me. Go check that out, and feel free to leave your thoughts about the planned changes and inclusions as i'd love to hear them!

I will be away from the office for the next week, but I will read and consider every little bit of feedback I get about Hackweight- Thank you to everybody who has played and supported the project thus far!

Immediate plans for updates are some casual accommodations, such as difficulty reducers, and more fan-servicey type stuff as well which I think can be pretty exciting. Please leave suggestions for what you think would do the game well!

I've also added a text document containing the Fatsona: Breakout development Discord server link to the page. Anybody who gains access to Hackweight now also gets permanent access to the ongoing development of Fatsona: Breakout!

I know i just made a comment about this but please take away the timer its way to hard with it

replied over on deviantart but will put it here as well- I will be away from the office until next week, but more casual accommodation is in my immediate plans. the timer is the main thing driving difficulty so it isn’t going to be outright removed, but i’ll probably think of a way to toggle it (among other changes) to allow for a more laid back experience.thank you for trying it out though and I really appreciate the feedback c:

(+1)

can we take away the time it kinda ruins it for me

hey the game won't work rn it just opens for like 4 seconds then disappears,it says it's open in system but its no where in task manager or anything else

do you use windows?

yes widows 10, I found a work around about 5 minutes ago though, by going to compatibility and troubleshooting I got it to work in windows 8.

that's very strange. do you have an unusual monitor size/ screen resolution?

no completely default 1980 x 1080. but if it is a resolution issue. I thought the formatting might have just been a little off, but there was a lot of text spill over out of there boxes so if that's not normal It might be something

I have the same problem, I believe its the firewall that keeps blocking my download and also wouldn't let me run the file! Try switching it off.

(1 edit) (+1)

I've completed it in 30 minutes. I think the game lack some sort of a gallery. Mercy stage is quite hard (even though it toke me about 3 minutes), so it would be a nice addition to the game to see the girls without the time pressure.

agreed! a gallery is a great idea and is probably one of the first things I'll be adding on to the project.

I find the game too hard
